A1 German level
About This Course
The A1 German level, also known as the “Breakthrough” level, is the beginner level in the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR). At this level, learners are able to understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at the satisfaction of concrete needs.
They can introduce themselves and others, ask and answer questions about personal details such as where they live, people they know, and things they have. In terms of listening, A1 learners can understand isolated phrases and common expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g., very basic personal and family information, shopping, local geography, employment). They can also communicate in simple and routine tasks requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters. At the A1 level, learners can interact in a simple way provided the other person talks slowly and clearly and is prepared to help. This level is the foundation for further German language learning and proficiency.
