It is required to set up different settings in your studio for different types of audio requirements. For example, the screencast videos for coding will require screen recording and audio recording from the computer.  

For videos with direct talking experiences, you can use to record your voice in a microphone. Editing software will help you to insert your voice properly over the screencast videos.

Equipment Selection

Microphone and Camera Selection

Computer cameras are good enough to start with, but built-in microphones should be avoided. A stable hands-free microphone with noise cancellation features should be chosen for audio recording.

Screencast Video Software

Software like Camstudio, Airmore, Jing, and Quicktime Player can be used for screencast videos.

Lightning Tool Selection

You can try the natural light settings of your place at first. You can use extra lamps and lights at your place to light the room if no sufficient natural light is available.

Audio Set-Up

    Ensure that the audio device is plugged in correctly to the video software.

    Set up proper gain in your microphone which will determine the audio reception of your microphone. Very high or low gain settings are not advisable.

    Put up stereo settings for the recording.

   You have to speak directly into the microphone from an appropriate distance. The ideal distance should be 15-30 cm from the microphone.

    A pop filter can be used to avoid any unnecessary sounds.

Camera and Transfer Settings

Proper camera settings and export settings are required.

    The aspect ratio of the frame should be set at proper width and height. The ratio appropriate is around 16:9 or 4:3.

    Video Settings and Resolution should be vigilantly set to get proper pixel settings and image quality. The resolution has to be more than 720p. HD videos are preferred.

Environment for Recording

    Room studio set-up  You can choose to dampen the place of recording for the least disturbances and echoing issues. Some soundproof panels can be added around the mic to avoid buzzing and external disturbances.

Camera placement can be tedious, hence some settings are required for the same:

   You have to be present in the middle of the frame, using the law of thirds. This will help in the proper setting of the frame and impressive visual representation.

    For a talking head video, the camera and subject should not be too far or close. This can be related directly to the face-to-face conversation.
